Benefit Party for Delta Thompson

Level 4 nightclub went off Thursday night in Aloha fashion as the surf community came to support one of their own, Braddah Delta Thompson. Delta is founder of F.B.I. (From Big Island), is a respected lifeguard and waterman who has been a positive influence to the surf community for years, and is known for his spirit of Aloha. Paula Fuga started the night off with a solo act that reached across the islands and beyond. To boot, event promoter "Hawaiian Hurricane" Turk Cazimero raffled off some fresh gear and boards donated by Dusty Payne, Mikey Bruneau, and Kala Alexander to name a few. Later, the party got into full swing when Big Island boys Splinta The Rat and Philly rocked the stage to a packed floor. Meanwhile North Shore artist and cartoonist Andrew Miller, AKA Drewtoonz, performed a live 8-foot-tall painting of Delta to commemerate the night.

Lastly, headlining band and the North Shore's own Ill Valley closed out the night with a rockstar performance. Big mahalos to photographer Eric Baeseman and Turk Cazimero for all their hard work, whithout which the night would not have been possible. Another big mahalo to Uncle Eddie Rothman for all his generous donations. Special thanks to Paula Fuga, Splinta, Ill Valley, and one more big mahalo to Kala Alexander, Mikey Bruneau, Dusty Payne, Tom Dosland, Ikaika Kalama, Daniel Ito, Rocky Cannon, Drewtoonz, and all who gathered together to make this night a success. All of the proceeds from the event are to benefit Delta Thompson who has been undergoing chemotherapy since he was diagnosed with lung cancer on Jan. 28, 2009.
