Makua Rothman talks Wipeout at Big Teahupoo

World Surf League Big Wave champion Makua Rothman explains how big Teahupoo was one of the worst wipeouts he’s had to endure in his surfing career. Taking the sharp, coral reef to the face, Makua held what was left together of his face while World Surf League commentator Peter Mel rushed him a half mile to shore. Grateful for a full recovery from the ordeal, Rothman is ready to defend his big wave title and is already on the forefront of the ratings after event #1, the Quicksilver Ceremonial held in Chile.
