WAIMEA VALLEY’S 2nd ANNUAL KALO AWA FESTIVAL

Join us Sunday August 17, 2014 for our second annual Kalo Awa Festival here at Waimea Valley. This free, open to the public event will be held from 8:00am – 5:30pm. There will be Kalo presentations, demonstrations, and an identification workshop. The afternoon brings Awa propagation, planting, harvesting and processing workshops. Keone Nunes will host traditional Kakau and Awa and Ty Kawika Tengan will discuss ceremonial uses of Awa. The event will wrap up with Live Music from Ernie Cruz Jr.

Hi’ipaka LLC, dba Waimea Valley is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Its mission is to preserve and perpetuate the human, cultural, and natural resources of Waimea for generations through education and stewardship.
