Surf Industry Tees Off To Support Amateur Surfing Raises $33,000 For Hawaii Surfing Association

Photos: @kainoah_photography & @yessahjessah – On August 12, 2026, the surf industry gathered for a day of friendly competition at the Pearl at Kalauao Golf Course to support amateur surfing in Hawaii. The 5th Annual HIC Golf Scramble raised $33,000 for the Hawaii Surfing Association (HSA), exceeding this year’s original goal by $3,000.

As the premier amateur surfing organization in the state, the HSA has spent over 40 years preparing local athletes for national and international competition. In fact, every single World Surfing Champion from Hawaii – including Derek Ho, Andy Irons, John John Florence, and Olympic Gold Medalist Carissa Moore – began their career in HSA events.

“The three main objectives of the HIC Golf Scramble were to raise funds for HSA, build awareness for the vital work they do for amateur surfing, and provide a gathering place for Hawaii’s surf business community,” said HIC CEO Leigh Tonai. “Based on the incredible support and positive feedback from participants, we successfully accomplished those goals.”

Mahalo nui loa to all of our sponsors who generously donated money, prizes, and time to make this year’s event a resounding success. This event would not be possible without your support.
