Come join friends, family and the Kohanaiki Ohana on May 17th for the 19th Annual Keiki Surf for the Earth event on the Big Island. Help celebrate Earth Day with a beach clean up or take part in the surf contest, arts and crafts, environmental/cultural trivia and more. Kids under the age of 14 can compete in a friendly surf contest, where every child who participates receives a handmade goody bag with prizes donated by local businesses and other corporations.
Approximately 70 keiki participate in this event every year, and the focus is to involve the community in activities that protect the environment as well as perpetuate cultural practices and values, and to involve the youth in becoming stewards of our land and water resources. For more information, or to donate prizes please contact Rebecca Villegas at (808) 960.2805 or at rebecca@konabrewingco.com.
