Bethany Hamilton and Alana Blanchard Host Keiki Classic

Bethany Hamilton and Alana Blanchard, two of the most influential female surfers to come out of Kauai, in partnership with Rip Curl and Hanalei Surf, are hosting the first annual Bethany and Alana Keiki Classic. The event is free to boys and girls 16 and under and slated for Hanalei Bay on the north shore of Kauai this Saturday, October 19th

The event will be an opportunity for local Kauai youth to interact with their role models, compete in a relaxed, fun environment, while practicing their skills, and win an amazing array of prizes from Rip Curl, Sticky Bumps, T-Mobile, Zico and more.

“I’m super excited to be hosting this event for the kids of Kauai,” says Blanchard.
“There is a lot of incredible surf talent on this island and we want to provide a chance for these groms to showcase their skills and feel confident that they can take it to the next level like Bethany and I have been blessed enough to do.”

To encourage Kauai’s kids to value their education and discover their dreams, Hamilton will be donating a board to a male and female winner who answer this essay contest question: “What is your dream and how will you achieve it?”

Alana will also be donating a board towards the Sportsmanship Award for the male or female that demonstrates the best sportsmanship and attitude throughout the event.

With solid overhead swell forecasted for this weekend, the event should be exciting and challenging for the groms. Sign ups are full but alternates may be taken at the beach. For more information contact Rip Curl Marketing Operations Manager Chelsea Johns: cjohns@ripcurl.com
