Freesurf Magazine has partnered up with the US Pro Surfing Tour. Kicking off this January 12 and 13th at Huntington Beach pier, the new surf competition series is focused on several key southern California locations this winter and spring at Oceanside Pier, Salt Creek in Dana Point, T-Street in San Clemente and Seaside Reef San Diego for starters. Under the direction of surfer-entrepreneur Jerry Lehman, there are stops on the East Coast planned later in the year as well. The USA has a new surfing series!
Jerry Lehman, an avid surfer, no stranger to the workings of surfing comps both in and out of the water. In younger years, he was a former competitor in the West Coast PSSA events in the 80’s and 90’s. In 1992 Lehman transitioned both in and out of the competitors’ jersey and actually created and directed a newer circuit called the Association of Surfing Amateurs and Professionals or ASAP Pro-am events. It was the first Pro-am tour put together where pro and amateurs were competing in the same events.
Fast forward to 2024 and Manulele Media will be pleased to document and capture the first installment of this new series at the iconic HB pier.
