As school winds down Waimea Valley is gearing up with some great offerings to kick off summer 2014! This week we celebrate Armed Services Day Saturday, May 17, 2014 with free admission to all active military (must show ID). The very next day Sunday, May 18th is our monthly La Ohana Day where all Military and Kama’aina receive half off admission to the valley, and finally Monday May 26th Memorial Day we again show our appreciation to our military by offering free admission to all active military (must show ID).
La Ohana Day is a great time for all members of your family! Come participate in our valley wide scavenger hunt and learn more about our cultural sites and botanical wonders. Visit with our cultural practitioners as they share their knowledge in bone, stone, and wood carving, lomi lomi, hula implements and more. The Hawaiian game site will be open for families to practice their skills at Moa Pahe’e or Konane. Lei making, hula implements, and storytelling will be enjoyed throughout the day. World renowned botanical specialist David Orr will be offering an in depth look at our botanicals during his Plant Walk at 2pm meet near the ticket booth.
