The Inaugural Golf Tournament Fundraiser to help at-risk teens get out of trouble and stay out of jail.
Did you know there are over 5,000 youth in Hawaii’s juvenile justice system? Many have been victims of abuse and neglect and are struggling to survive. Without adequate guidance and support many will waste their potential, never knowing what they can offer our community, and eventually become adult offenders costing our society millions of dollars.
Surfrider Spirit Sessions (SSS) is a grassroots 501c3 non-profit organization that works with Hawaii State Family courts to match delinquent teens with volunteer adult surf mentors. To date we’ve helped over 300 teens get stoked on life and get back on track and out of the juvenile justice system. Our innovative programs have been working and attracting the support of notable and respected members of our community.
We are seeking Corporate sponsors for our 1st annual fundraising golf tournament,
“SURF TO THE TURF!” to help us continue our programs in 2014.

Purpose: Your participation will help SSS continue our mentoring program for Hawaii’s at-risk youth by providing program materials, surfboard rentals, mentor recruitment, youth employment training, and other expenses while generating greater awareness of Surfrider Spirit Sessions and the work we do.
Community Impact: Surfrider Spirit Sessions have been proven to be effective in motivating adjudicated and at-risk youth and helping them transform into healthy productive community members. Hawaii courts report a significant reduction in recidivism and declines in truancy, drug use, violent outbursts, antisocial behavior, and incarceration rates among youth who participate in SSS programs.
