Hawaii’s Shane Dorian takes the win at the WSL Four Seasons Maldives Championships twin-fin division. Dorian took out twin- fin style master David “Rasta” Rastovich by posting a heat total of 15.60. Rasta needed one more wave in the dying seconds of the final against Dorian to take the big W of the event. “I never ever ride twin fins,” said Dorian. “I didn’t really know how to approach it or how I should ride it, but it felt good. The waves were fun and really good for twin fins, fast and down the line.” Humbled by Shane’s performance on the specialty board, Rasta was very excited to see his long-time friend shredding fun, clean waves, and nothing but good vibes were been felt from all competitors.
Heading into event #3 of the WSL specialty series, the equipment call for riding high performance boards with a 3 fin or thruster set up. A basic fin set up that most surfers use on the equipment for everyday surfing.
Rastovich is last year’s series defending champion and this years current events leader with 1900 points heading into the last event of the three event series. Dorian is inching closer to taking the series rating lead over Rastovich with a combined score of 1800 points with one more event to go.
